About Duncan Rocks
I’m Elliot Duncan, a student at Oregon State University studying Earth Systems in the Environmental Science program. I grew up in Southern Oregon and have traveled to almost every state in the country, seeing a lot of geology along the way.
I think geology touches nearly everything in daily life. Phones, lightbulbs, and medical lasers all depend on it. When we study the materials the Earth produces and learn their properties, we can use them to improve how we live. That idea is behind everything I do with minerals.

Minerals are personal for me
I’m an amateur faceter, lapidary artist, photographer, and flint knapper. I enjoy identifying minerals and have worked with private collections. I’ve helped with a museum’s Mystery Mineral Day, built a museum exhibit on synthetic minerals, and taught geology to homeschool groups.
Duncan Rocks is the store I hoped to open one day. It’s a place to share the rocks and minerals I come across, and to help other people enjoy them.
